Compostable Bags
Armidale residents will be aware that some retailers now supply compostable carry bags.
Council asks residents to dispose of these bags in the red-top bin as they will quickly break down (decompose) in the landfill, as opposed to plastic bags which can persist in landfills and the environment for many years.
Please do not dispose of these bags in the garden waste (greenwaste) bin. This is a short-term request until such time as a suitable composting facility has been developed at the Long Swamp Road waste management site.
